One of the scariest things for me when we moved to Florida for my new job was not
knowing exactly what I was going to do with my 4 year old son during the day while
I was at work.

I was offered an exciting promotion within my company, along with a substantial payraise,
so I knew there was no choice but to go. Yet, I would be on my own in a new city trying
to figure out where my son would go.

Life is hard as a single parent. You want the best for your child, but have no choice but
to be gone much of the day to provide for him. You don't want your children raised in an
unhealthy, unsafe, or unhappy environment.

I didn't know Lakewood Ranch, Florida, at all when I arrived here. I don't know what I
would have done, had this been in the old days. Thank goodness though that this is 2009
and high speed internet was up and running before my dishes were unpacked!

I simply typed into the search engine's search bar, "daycare lakewood ranch" and
it directed me to the website for A Step Above Child Care Creative Learning Center.

The name of the business attracted me right off the bat. "Learning Center" was what I
needed to see. So many daycares are little more than colorful holding cells staffed by
unattentive, underpaid, and unhappy employees with little or no training.

I most definitely didn't want my special little man stuck in one of those in a strange new
city and home he wasn't yet used to. I read their website and it sounded to me like a
perfect situation for daycare Lakewood Ranch.

They actually teach the children to prepare them for their next step into kindergarten.
The staff are all fully screened and each hold certifications in infant and child first aid
and CPR. They all also participate in ongoing education in fields related to childcare.

I made a decision to go for a visit with my son and check the place out together.
When we arrived, the staff greeted us warmly and they had such a great manner
toward my little boy that his nervousness melted instantly.

Seeing the other children and toys helped too! I was very comforted by the security
features of the facility which the staff showed me. There are cameras in every room
and in the playgrounds as well. There is a door entrance code. Parents have to clock
in and out which helps keep track. They even have a safe off-site viewing set up for
parents.

There was nothing more to think about for me. Safe, fun, educational...all that a loving
parent could want for daycare Lakewood Ranch!
